The Mega Man 5 boss weaknesses order starts with Star Man, and his weakness is the Mega Buster, your starting weapon. You beat him with that buster, then take his weapon, Star Crash, into the next fight. Each boss you beat hands you a weapon for a later boss, so the fight order works as a chain rather than a free choice. The order in this article is the chain most guides follow, and it lets you use each new weapon where it works best.

Use the table below as a quick reference: start with Star Man, then follow the chain one boss at a time. Keep the chain in mind as you clear each boss, since skipping ahead can leave you without the weapon you need. For a stage-by-stage route, the [Mega Man 5 walkthrough](https://idleweekend.net/mega-man-5-walkthrough-spanish/) covers the levels in order.

## Which weapon beats each boss?

Each boss in this group has one weapon that hurts him most, and the weapon you win from him is the one you need for the next boss. The table lists each weakness next to the weapon you win from the same boss, so you can read across a row to see what to bring into a fight and what you get in return.

| Boss | Weakness | Weapon you win |
| ----------- | ------------ | -------------- |
| Star Man | Mega Buster | Star Crash |
| Gravity Man | Star Crash | Gravity Hold |
| Gyro Man | Gravity Hold | Gyro Attack |
| Crystal Man | Gyro Attack | Crystal Eye |

Star Man's primary weakness is the Mega Buster, and his weapon is Star Crash [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net). Gravity Man is weak to Star Crash, so that is the weapon to bring to his fight [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net). Gravity Man's weapon is Gravity Hold [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net). Gyro Man is weak to Gravity Hold [\[2\]](https://videochums.com/article/mega-man-5-boss-order-weaknesses-guide?ref=idleweekend.net), so you need that weapon for his fight. Gyro Man gives you Gyro Attack [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net), and Crystal Man is weak to Gyro Attack [\[2\]](https://videochums.com/article/mega-man-5-boss-order-weaknesses-guide?ref=idleweekend.net).

Crystal Man's weapon is Crystal Eye [\[3\]](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/587444-mega-man-5/faqs/76964/weapons-boss-weakness?ref=idleweekend.net). Because each weakness is a weapon from the boss above it in the table, the four fights link together.

Fighting Gyro Man with the Mega Buster means spending your time on a weapon that is not his weakness. Switch to Gravity Hold instead, and you can finish him faster with the weapon he is weak to. The same logic applies to Crystal Man: bring Gyro Attack, not Star Crash or Gravity Hold.

Keep the table open during your run. A quick look at the weakness column before each boss tells you which weapon to select.

## Why does the order matter?

Fight the bosses in chain order, because each one you beat hands you the weapon for the next. Beating Star Man gives you Star Crash, and that is the weapon you carry to Gravity Man [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net).

Gravity Man's primary weakness is Star Crash, so the weapon you just earned works on him [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net). Once you beat him, you take his weapon, Gravity Hold [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net). That gives you the next link in the chain without any detours.

Gravity Hold is the weapon you need for Gyro Man. Gyro Man is listed with Gravity Hold as his weakness, so you use the weapon you got from Gravity Man when you face him [\[2\]](https://videochums.com/article/mega-man-5-boss-order-weaknesses-guide?ref=idleweekend.net). You don't have to backtrack or switch to a weapon you haven't earned yet.

### The first three bosses in order

1. Beat Star Man and take Star Crash.
2. Use Star Crash on Gravity Man and take Gravity Hold.
3. Use Gravity Hold on Gyro Man.

Think of the chain as a relay, where the weapon you win is the tool for the next fight. If you went to Gravity Man before Star Man, you would not have Star Crash yet, so you could not use the weapon that is his primary weakness [\[1\]](https://sites.google.com/site/megamanbossguides/mega-man-5?ref=idleweekend.net).

Following the chain also keeps you away from your weakest weapon. At each step you already hold the weapon that works against the next boss. If you jump around the order, you may end up facing a boss with a weapon that doesn't suit him, and that makes the fight harder than it needs to be.

## What should you do next?

Your next step is to start with Star Man and use the Mega Buster on him. Then keep the chain in mind as you clear each boss, because the weapon you win from one fight is the one you use on the next. Work down the list in that order, one boss at a time.

For a stage-by-stage route through the game in English or Spanish, see the Mega Man 5 walkthrough guide. It's the best place to go once you have the boss order down and want help with the stages between fights.
