A Tex Murphy: Overseer walkthrough can get you past the puzzles and story choices that stall you, but the right one depends on how much help you want. Overseer is the fourth Tex Murphy series, and its story is about Tex's first case [\[1\]](https://the-spoiler.com/ADVENTURE/Access/overseer.2/?ref=idleweekend.net). That makes it a different entry point from the earlier games, since you are following the start of his detective work. Some walkthroughs list the points for both game levels side by side, which keeps the steps for each level on one page [\[2\]](https://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/viewtopic.php?t=775&ref=idleweekend.net). That layout suits you if you want to compare how each level works before you pick a path.

Before you open a guide, decide whether you want full steps or only nudges. Full steps show every answer, so you can keep moving when you are stuck. Nudges reveal just enough to point you in the right direction, which keeps more of the solving for you.

## Should you read a full walkthrough or only hints?

A full walkthrough and a hint-only guide give you different amounts of help, so choose based on how much you want to be told. Some Tex Murphy: Overseer guides hold back the story and show only the first part of the hints. [\[1\]](https://the-spoiler.com/ADVENTURE/Access/overseer.2/?ref=idleweekend.net) The author of one of them says that this first part only gives you the main idea of how to solve the game, so it does not list every point. [\[1\]](https://the-spoiler.com/ADVENTURE/Access/overseer.2/?ref=idleweekend.net)

That matters if you want to keep the game's surprises. You get the direction you need without every answer handed over.

If you are a score hunter, the same guide has a separate section called the SCORE LIST that shows every point in the game. [\[1\]](https://the-spoiler.com/ADVENTURE/Access/overseer.2/?ref=idleweekend.net) You can use it when you want the full tally and skip it otherwise.

Hint-only pages are a third option. One hint site says it gives as much detail as any walkthrough to help you finish, but shows just the hints you need rather than every solution. [\[3\]](https://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/overseer?ref=idleweekend.net)

Each approach suits a different player. A full walkthrough is quickest when you want to move on fast, while hints keep you thinking. Pick the one that matches how much you want to work things out yourself.

## How do you get past the domino puzzle?

Your cursor is the first clue. In Overseer, whenever your cursor goes over something it can interact with, it changes to show it [\[4\]](https://www.justadventure.com/walkthrough/overseer-2/?ref=idleweekend.net). Watch for that change as you move around each room so you notice the objects you can use.

The domino set is where the puzzle starts. Open your inventory and examine the domino set to start the domino puzzle [\[4\]](https://www.justadventure.com/walkthrough/overseer-2/?ref=idleweekend.net). Examining it from inventory is the only action you need here before the puzzle opens.

From there, work through the puzzle from the walkthrough one step at a time. Each step builds on the one before it, so finish a step fully before you start the next. Keep the walkthrough open in a second window so you can match each move to its step without guessing.

Working in order keeps the puzzle manageable and shows you exactly where a mistake happened. If a move doesn't seem to do anything, go back to the last step you completed rather than trying pieces at random. That way, if you get stuck later, you know exactly which step to reread.

## What do the early steps and conversation choices look like?

### Opening steps

Your first moves are short. Turn on the middle computer, then pick up and examine the smoke detector and the ashtray on the table. [\[5\]](http://alcatraztms.weebly.com/walkthrough3.html?ref=idleweekend.net)

The walkthrough lists these as separate steps, so do each one in turn.

### Setting the clocks

Some puzzles ask you to set clocks for San Francisco, Paris and Sidney. The first step in one walkthrough is to set San Francisco to 6 PM, with Paris and Sidney set to the times it lists. [\[6\]](https://mysterymanor.net/walkthroughs/Overseer/overseer%5F1.htm?ref=idleweekend.net)

A second step changes Paris to 2 PM and Sidney to 9 AM, so the clocks are not set once and left alone. [\[6\]](https://mysterymanor.net/walkthroughs/Overseer/overseer%5F1.htm?ref=idleweekend.net)

### Picking conversation options

Conversation options are lettered A through F, counted from the top of the list down. [\[1\]](https://the-spoiler.com/ADVENTURE/Access/overseer.2/?ref=idleweekend.net)

Read the letter next to each line before you choose, so you pick the option you actually mean.

## Where should you start if you are stuck?

Start with the room or puzzle where you're stuck, then find it in the walkthrough. Look for the heading or step that names that place, so you can jump straight to the spot instead of reading from the top.

The steps are short actions written in order. One early line reads "Look at vid phone, turn on, dial AID, ask about Tex Murphy" [\[2\]](https://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/viewtopic.php?t=775&ref=idleweekend.net). Match that kind of line to what is on your screen, then read only the lines that follow your current spot.

Read the hint for that spot first. Open the full steps only if the hint doesn't get you moving again.
