This Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil walkthrough gives you the route, the goal of each area, and the boss tips you need to keep moving without getting stuck. Resurrection of Evil is the expansion for Doom 3 on PC [1]. GameFAQs lists 35 guides and walkthroughs for the expansion on PC [1].

Use this route for direction and boss tips, and open a full guide only when you need exact positions. This walkthrough is spoiler-light: it names the goal of each area, not every secret, so you still get to find the pickups yourself.

Start in Main Excavation, then work through Erebus Dig Site, Erebus Labs, Erebus Control and Erebus Research [2].

How do you get going at the start?

Your first mission objective is to activate the Teleporter to Delta Labs, but you should explore Monorail Station before you use it. [3]

Talk to Dr. McNeil first

You start by talking with Dr. McNeil, who sets up the next step. After you get off the horn with Dr. McNeil, explore the Monorail Station area. [3]

Treat the station as your first real stop in the level. Take your time there, because the teleporter takes you on to Delta Labs and you will not come back for anything you skipped. Exploring first gives you a chance to find supplies before you move on.

Check every corner for pickups

The station has pickups tucked into it, so do not rush across the open floor. There are some pickups placed around the station, so check each corner before you move on. [3]

A simple way to do this is to work the room in order. Start at one wall, walk the length of it, then cut across to the opposite corner. Pick up everything you see before you head for the teleporter.

Your opening route

Here is the order to follow:

  1. Talk to Dr. McNeil.
  2. Explore Monorail Station and check each corner.
  3. Activate the teleporter to Delta Labs.

When you reach the teleporter with the station cleared, you are ready to head into Delta Labs. The first stretch of the expansion is short, so a careful start now saves you from backtracking later.

A narrow metal corridor with flickering overhead lights and a grated floor, dim and empty, like a starship interior.

What is the route through the Erebus areas?

The route runs through five areas in a fixed order: Main Excavation, Erebus Dig Site, Erebus Labs, Erebus Control, and Erebus Research [2]. Start in Main Excavation and work down the list. Each area leads into the next, so there is no reason to jump ahead.

Finish each area's goal first

Complete the goal of each area before you head to the next one. The route moves forward in this order, so an area you skip can leave you stuck later without an obvious way back.

For example, if you reach Erebus Labs and its goal is still open, stay there and finish it. Don't backtrack to Main Excavation hoping to find a shortcut. Keep moving forward through the list, one area at a time.

Use the area names as checkpoints

The five area names also work as checkpoints. If you get lost, figure out which area you are in, then find that name in a full guide. Read only that section, so you get the help you need without seeing the rest of the level.

This matters most in a long guide with many headings. A name like Erebus Control is easy to spot, while a page number or a chapter count is not. Matching your location to the area name gets you to the right part of the guide quickly.

A rusted space station corridor with exposed pipes and red warning lights stretching into shadow ahead.

How do you handle the boss fights?

Read the Fluffy Kitty boss strategy before you reach that fight. The walkthrough includes one, so you can go in knowing what the boss does and how to approach it. [2]

The Hell level is where the Hell Knights come in, and the second one arrives only after you handle the first. After the first Hell Knight is dead, a stone door opens and another Hell Knight starts attacking you. [4] Expect this. If you rush ahead thinking the room is clear, the new knight can catch you in the open.

When you can, deal with the Hell Knights from a distance rather than closing in on them. Stay back, keep your weapon aimed at the spot where the enemy will appear, and let it come to you. Keep moving so you don't get pinned in a corner, and back up if one gets too close.

For the Hell level, a practical sequence looks like this:

  1. Clear the first Hell Knight from range.
  2. Wait for the stone door to open before you move into the corridor.
  3. Use the same distance-first approach on the second knight.

The second knight is easier to handle when you already know it is coming, so pause before you step into the corridor.

Which full guides can you use when you need more detail?

Doom3portal's walkthrough is the best place to start if you want help by area. Bryan Wulff's guide is organized by area and includes boss strategies, so you can jump straight to the part that's stopping you. [2]

If you want to compare writing styles, GameFAQs is the place to look. It lists 35 guides and walkthroughs for Resurrection of Evil on PC, so you can read a few and keep the one that suits how you like to read. [1]

If your goal is every achievement, use the TrueAchievements guide. It is a page of the full walkthrough for DOOM 3: BFG Edition, which includes Resurrection of Evil, and it shows you how to earn all of the achievements. [5]

The table below sums up the three options by what each one does best.

The biggest difference is what each guide puts first. GameFAQs gives you the most choice, Doom3portal gives you the most direct area-by-area route, and TrueAchievements puts achievements at the center. Treat them as three tools for different jobs rather than three rankings, and pick the one that matches the problem in front of you.

What should you do if you get stuck or want achievements?

If you only need a nudge, reread the area goal in this walkthrough and try again before you open a full guide. Each area states what you need to do next, so start there.

Say you are in Erebus Labs and cannot find the way forward. Read the goal for that area, then search the parts of the room you have not checked yet. Keep the goal in mind while you explore, so you know what counts as progress.

Only move to a full guide when the goal alone does not get you moving. A full guide is the right tool for exact positions, not for a general idea of what to do next.

If you want every achievement, use the TrueAchievements guide. Its page, titled Guide for DOOM 3: BFG Edition - Resurrection Of Evil, is page 7 of the full game walkthrough for DOOM 3: BFG Edition [5]. The page says it will show you how to earn all of the achievements [5].

Because that guide is built around the achievement list, you can read only the parts that match where you are. Pick the section for your current area, and skip ahead only when you are ready for the next one.

When you open a full guide, search its contents for the exact area name, such as Erebus Dig Site or Erebus Control. Jump to that section and read only what you need to get past the problem. Then close the guide and go back to playing.

Where should you go next with the expansion?

Start with the Teleporter objective, then follow the Erebus areas in order. The first goal is to activate the Teleporter to Delta Labs [3]. After you talk with Dr. McNeil, explore Monorail Station before you move on [3].

Work through Main Excavation, Erebus Dig Site, Erebus Labs, Erebus Control and Erebus Research in that order [2]. Finish each area's goal before you head to the next one, since the route only moves forward.

Keep the boss tips from this route ready for the Fluffy Kitty fight [2] and the Hell Knight fights. When a fight or pickup stops you, open a full guide from the list above.
