The Uncharted Dual Pack is a PlayStation 3 release with its own set of guides. This walkthrough explains how to move through the chapters and where players commonly get stuck.

In this article

You can follow an Uncharted Dual Pack walkthrough chapter by chapter, starting with the first chapter of your game and working forward in order. That is the simplest way to get through both games without losing your place. This article covers how each chapter leads into the next and where players commonly get stuck.

The Dual Pack is a PlayStation 3 release [1], and it already has plenty of full guides. GameFAQs lists 13 guides and walkthroughs for it [1], so you can compare another approach if one section frustrates you.

The walkthrough follows the chapters in order and flags the hard fights and the spots where players commonly get stuck. Each section tells you where the next one begins, so you can pick up again after a break without hunting for your place.

What is included in the Uncharted Dual Pack?

The Uncharted Dual Pack is listed for the PlayStation 3, so that is the platform you should match any walkthrough to. [1] Knowing this first keeps you from following a guide written for a different system.

How much written help exists

GameFAQs lists 13 guides and walkthroughs for the pack on the PlayStation 3. [1] That gives you plenty of choice. If one author skips a section or explains a fight in a way that doesn't click, you can open another guide and find the same part covered differently.

Each listing shows a title, an author, and a category. One example is a Guide and Walkthrough by AbsoluteSteve, filed under Full Game Guides. [1] A full game guide covers the campaign from start to finish, so it is usually the better main reference.

What the listing categories tell you

The category tells you what kind of help you are getting. A full game guide follows the whole route, while a shorter FAQ answers one question. If you are stuck on a single boss, an FAQ may get you past it quickly. If you want a route from the opening menu onward, pick a full guide.

Read the title and author before you open anything. The title shows which game the guide covers, and the author tells you whose route you are following. Both details matter when you are switching between guides.

Match the guide to your copy

Before you start, check the store page for the exact two games in your copy. A walkthrough only helps if it covers the game you are playing, so this step saves you from following the wrong chapter list.

Once you know the two titles, look through the guide listings for the first game. Open the guide's opening section and compare its chapter names with what is on your screen. If they line up, you have the right guide.

A simple way to start

Here is a practical first session. Open the store page and note the two titles. Then find a full guide for the first title on GameFAQs and read its opening section so you know how it is laid out.

Play one chapter, then stop at a clear checkpoint. Write down the chapter name so you can find the same spot in the guide next time. The guide's chapter headings make this quick to do.

Pick one guide and stick with it

Choose one full guide and follow it for a whole chapter instead of switching between authors. Different authors can describe checkpoints and item locations in different ways, which makes it harder to find your place again.

Keep a shorter FAQ on hand for a single tricky moment, and use the full guide for the overall route. That way you don't have to rebuild your progress from scratch each time you sit down to play.

How do you move through each chapter in order?

Play the chapters in order, because each one sets up the next. Skipping ahead can leave you confused about why a character, place, or situation matters, since later parts of the game build on what came before. Working in order also keeps the walkthrough from spoiling parts you have not reached yet.

Find your place by chapter title

The quickest way to find your spot in a walkthrough is to match the chapter title, not the page number or how far you remember getting. Write down the title of the chapter you are in, then search the walkthrough for that exact title. That works even if you come back to the game days later.

Chapter 2 is a good example. Chapter 2 of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, The Search for El Dorado, is covered in detail in one guide section [2]. Search for that title and you land on the right part without reading through the earlier chapters.

That guide page contains a detailed description of the first part of Chapter 2 [2]. If you are just starting the chapter, begin there rather than reading ahead to the later parts.

A routine for each chapter

Use the same few steps every time you start a new chapter, so you always know where you are:

  1. Finish the chapter you are on, and note the title of the next one.
  2. Find that title in the walkthrough, and read only the section that matches your starting point.
  3. Play until the next checkpoint, then return to the walkthrough if you need it.

Reading only the part you need keeps the guide from spoiling what is still ahead. It also means you look things up when you need them, not all at once before you start playing.

When a chapter runs across several parts

A chapter can be split into several parts in a walkthrough, so one section may end before the chapter does. Say you finish part 1 of Chapter 2 and the next section is not where you expected. Go back to the chapter title and scroll down to the next part of that same chapter.

Do not jump ahead to a later chapter to fill the gap. Each chapter depends on the one before it, so skipping ahead leaves you without the setup you need for what comes next.

Keep a simple note

Write a short note with your current chapter title and part number, such as "Chapter 2, part 1 done." It takes a few seconds, and it stops you from rereading a section you have already finished.

The note also helps when you pick the game back up after a break. You read the note, find the title, and continue from the right part.

Moving on to the next chapter

When you finish a chapter, look up the title of the one that follows and start from its first section. Repeat the routine each time, and you will work through the Dual Pack one chapter at a time.

Each chapter title gives you a clear point to come back to, so you never have to guess where you stopped. Following the chapters in order is the simplest way to play, and it keeps the story making sense from start to finish.

Where do players usually get stuck?

The two spots that stop most players in Drake's Fortune are a locked set of double doors and the pirate fight that begins right after them. Both come early in the game, and the Crushing setting makes the fight much tougher. If you know what to expect at each spot, you can get past them without restarting over and over.

The locked double doors

Doors can block the path, so don't assume you can simply walk through them. The fix is a two-step routine: shoot the lock, then force the doors open. Head through and shoot the lock on the double doors, then kick them down. [3]

In practice, stop in front of the doors and aim at the lock first. Once the lock is broken, step up and kick the doors open to move on. Shooting first means you won't waste time trying to push through a door that is still locked.

The pirate fight after the cutscene

The fight starts with little warning. After the cutscene you will now have pirates shooting at you from [3]. Expect the gunfire to begin as soon as the scene ends, not after you've had a moment to look around.

For example, if you stop to check your ammo or your surroundings the moment control returns to you, you may already be taking fire. Get into cover right away, and only then decide on your next move. Staying in the open for even a few seconds is the easiest way to lose health early in the fight.

Why Crushing makes it harder

This walkthrough is written for Crushing, the harder difficulty setting. That matters most in this fight, where the pirates are already shooting when you regain control. Crushing leaves less room for mistakes, so the steady approach works better than rushing forward.

Slow down and use cover rather than pushing into the open. Pick one piece of cover, check where the enemies are, and only move to the next piece when the one you're behind is safe. Taking the fight one step at a time is far more reliable than trying to clear it in one push.

If the doors or the pirate fight stop you, shoot the lock first, then kick the doors open, and get into cover before you move on [3].

Where to go next in the Dual Pack

Your best move is to start at the first chapter of your game and move forward in order. Playing straight through keeps the story and the fights in the right sequence.

When you get stuck, go back to the chapter title and find that section of the walkthrough. That gets you unstuck without reading ahead and spoiling the next scene.

Next step: start from chapter one of the game you're about to play. For another walkthrough, look up the current guide list on the official store or a guide site.
